What can I do for you? I can evaluate you or your child in a natural environment if most appropriate and I strive to bridge the gap between clinic and school therapy, and independence in the community.  I also have a special interest in working with children who have musculoskeletal pain, poor posture, and poor foot and ankle stability (please see the “About Me” tab for more detail).

Children with Special Needs

Planning for future physical needs should be a part of every infant and child’s therapy plan. PTKids assists the family and child in developing a lifelong routine of daily activity to maintain joint mobility and strength. In many cases, the difficulty of the exercise program can be increased to improve functional skills for increased independence. With cerebral palsy and similar conditions, the older child and adolescent experiences rapid growth with its associated problems of decreased ambulation and loss of functional skills that can affect life as a young adult. This age group also experiences an emerging sense of self with the development of personal goals that often differ from those established at a younger age. This is often a time of increased motivation for independence, activity, and socialization – goals which can be met with age appropriate activity and exercise. Strength training programs are proven to be effective in reversing decline in functional abilities and augment the transition to independence and increased socialization. Children with disabilities need community support to meet these challenges effectively.

I provide a home program that is meaningful to you and your child, integrated into your lifestyle, and coordinated with school or clinic therapies. I will be available to you by phone or email if you have questions following the evaluation and if future questions or needs arise.
